club cameras yeaaah.

Posted by jonhom. No Comments

in the states i normally feel super dumb if i get caught by those photographers in the clubs trying to take pictures of everyone but i guess it’s ok in taiwan hahaha

these pictures were from valentines day a few weeks back…

roses that um….i gave them…yeahhhh

we love this place

oh ya, and sorry i’ve been so laggy on the updates this past week…been super busy playing too much COD with xiefu…

i mean….busy with homework and studying, but no really, i’ve been spending quite a bit of time in the library after my classes trying to memorize all the characters that i’ve forgotten how to write! anyway, i’ll try my hardest to keep updating as much as possible!

damn you rainie yang.

Posted by jonhom. No Comments

in case you have forgotten who rainie is…

i just couldn’t resist…..

it even came with a bag!

zombies, here i come!

excitement!!! the only thing it won’t do is play dvd’s from the US, but all games and bluray’s are ok! hooray for owning my first japanese-spec gaming console!!

in case anyone was wondering, my original ps3 died literally the night before we left for taiwan.  i was super duper sad but then realized the ps3 slim was coming out in the next couple weeks so woo!! it’s a lot smaller than the original ps3 and the best part about it is that it doesn’t attract fingerprints like the original one did!

now all i need is another bluetooth headset and perhaps arkham asylum and i’m set :D

classrooms and awesome dinners

Posted by jonhom. 1 Comment

this is my new classroom…it’s pretty big actually and we all sit around the round table which i think is pretty cool.

we’re on the 8th floor…which means i can either a) wait in line for like 20 minutes for the elevator or b) take the stairs -_-

annie and i went to one of our favorite places last night for some 火鍋, 臭豆腐 and of course, some fried goods (james knows what i’m talking about).

i felt like being classy, so i put some fried goods in a bowl (baby corn, string beans and 2 chicken hearts yummmmm)

all of this for just about $10US..total

sigh, i love this city ^^

things we’ve been doing.

Posted by jonhom. 1 Comment

hello everybody.  we’ve now been in taiwan for almost 2 weeks now and it’s been really awesome.  it’s weird though because, whenever we came here the past 2 years, it was for vacation.  we were only here for a limited amount of time so we always tried to squeeze in as much activities as possible which always lead to a lot of pictures and stories etc.  but this time is different because we actually LIVE here, so we’ve just sort of been living life the last 2 weeks.

annie started teaching at her school so she’s gone most of the day while i hang out here in our apartment, working on our music stuff and occasionally going out to just walk around and explore our area.  it’s really nice to know that we aren’t always pressured to have to go to this night market and have to eat this food.  it’s so much more relaxed.  sometimes it’s just nice to lounge around in the apartment and watch a movie while eating food from the place we can almost see right outside our window.  life is good.

i start school tomorrow which will mean i won’t be home all day anymore, haha.  i’m super excited to start class because i’m going in with a completely different mindset before.  when i was on EAP a couple years ago, i came in with absolutely no real previous chinese experience but this time, i’m here with plenty of experience and i look forward to the challenge.

you still with me?  i know, i’m sorry, i don’t usually write that much on here but don’t worry, here are some pictures –

this pic is hard to see but notice all the people wearing their work clothes, standing outside, doing jumping jacks to get pumped up for their work day, pahaha

i gotta find a place to play…pronto

new glasses! (i’m jealous)

yeah fried man

best thing to eat when it’s 95 degrees / 100% humid

hang out with daphne time

i was peeing and i saw this…

nooo don’t go back to canada

not so sober

i said it once and i’ll say it again, i need a better camera, haha.

anyway, i know most of you are probably sick and tired of seeing all my status updates on facebook about the band and could probably do without another plug, but i’m sorry, we just need as many youtube/myspace views as possible to beef up our street cred, you know how it is ;)

see our music video (now with lyrics!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax4V7DtlfSw

the looking glass.

some of you may or may not know, but ever since our trip to taiwan last winter, annie and i decided we wanted to start a band.  8 months later — we finally have our first demo pressed.  6 out of the 9 tracks are in chinese but for all you non-speakers, we’re hoping that the songs are equally as fun for you, reguardless if you can understand the lyrics!

And of course, the full demo is available FREE for download!  Click HERE to get the demo in its entirety.

Our myspace: www.myspace.com/TheLookingGlassTW

To celebrate the long awaited release of our demo, we’re releasing our first music video along with it!  It’s for our song entitled “麵包” or “bread”  watch below!

*to clear up any confusion — we are looking for a drummer and a bassist in taiwan so if you know of any let us know!  (all tracks recorded by annie and i)

We’ll probably be spamming this to every social networking site that we’re apart of so we apologize in advance! We’re just super excited about getting all this started.

again, DOWNLOAD THE FULL DEMO HERE!!

hope everyone likes it :)

i’m gonna buy you.

how convenient that my old ps3 dies right before this one comes out, fate?

should i buy on release day? no, that’d be crazy…OR WOULD IT?  ><  i was originally on the fence about even buying it but how can anyone resist buying something that rainie endorses -_-

valentine’s day.

Posted by jonhom. No Comments

so apparently valentine’s day was yesterday and no better way to celebrate it than a great night at primo and a late night 荳漿 run.

they’re just cheaper at 7

being a girl in taiwan definately has its benefits..not only did the bartender give them free shots but they also got roses

happy valentines day!

my 油條!

on a completely different note, i think i need a new small camera, this whole posting pictures from my crappy cell phone thing isn’t working out to well -_-

the best part of waking up

our temporary stay — hostel times

mini mr. donuts!

we also moved into our new apartment!  annie and i couldn’t be any happier at this place, it’s perfect for us!  i have no pictures of the place just yet but we are planning on shooting a cribs for all of you back home :)   besides, video is a lot more fun than pics!

we went to our beloved sheng li to buy a bunch of stuff for our new place, so here’s me carrying a bunch of stuff to our new place

and for those who have been following annie’s and my musical adventures, our music video should be done in the next few days and once it’s released, download links of our demo will be available along with all myspaces/youtubes/wretch will be live!  excitement!
