first of all, congrats to my cousin ben and anita on their wedding! it was too bad that annie and i couldn’t attend their wedding in newport beach, but i heard it was really awesome. anyway, they are in thailand for their honeymoon but they had an 18hr layover in taipei…which meant we got to show them what taipei had to offer in a very short amount of time.

took them to eat at 士林 where they basically ate every night market food you could ever want

i had a few days off this week before my new semester started, so i went to visit annie at her work…i mean, eat at yoshinoya, which happened to be by her work ^^

march is going to be a pretty busy month for us. we have a show at the wall on thursday (3/11), then a radio interview on ICRT the next day, followed by a show in taichung (台中). we’re also having a small interview with taipei times newspaper tomorrow, which is pretty damned cool.

it’s tradition here that a week after new years, you write all your wishes on a giant lantern and blast them into the sky. where they end up, i don’t know, but it was seriously a really cool experience. on with the pictures…

i really have to stay on top of these excitement posts, especially with video games because in this case, i’m already done with this one. oh ya, and i’m already done with dante’s inferno.

regardless, i was quite excited when capcom announced the expansion packs for resident evil 5. this one is called “lost in nightmares” and there will be another expansion in a couple weeks. i believe my second excitement post was when RE5 originally came out. anyway, what can i say? dan and i finished the co-op campaign in a little over an hour. plus, it came with new characters to play for mercenaries. definitely worth the $4.99. apparently there is an easter egg to enable the old school cameras for the campaign…just like how it was for the first three games. the mansion is almost identical to the one in the original resident evil. actually, i think this 1 hour campaign was probably scarier than the whole original campaign in RE5. something about being constrained in a dark mansion with limited space to run around in. SO STRESSFUL.

first time celebrating the new year in taiwan…pretty cool i must say! a week full of eating, drinking and family (annie’s family, of course). it’s like thanksgiving here, but instead of eating one giant meal, you eat for like 4 days straight, non stop. it was pretty amazing. here are some highlights

this is from our first dinner at some hotel w/ annie’s mom’s side of the family

shark fin soup (felt kind of bad eating it, but damn it was good)

now, i’ve never had lunch that somehow transformed itself into dinner before. we started eating at her aunts house at around noon time, ate and drank til around 4, then rested for about 30 minutes watching castaway on tv, then out of nowhere, the food and beer mysteriously came back again…in more quantity.

and when we thought we were done, the next day we had lunch at her uncles.

by the end of the new years non-stop eating fest, annie and i were growing pretty tired of the food. luckily for us, rach was in town and we could show her the awesomeness that is mcdonalds

the next day we had the MLG (麻辣鍋)

we snuck in and finished a giant bottle of vodka as well

we didn’t want the party to stop so we got ourselves a table at 9%

forgot to mention that we had mcdonalds every day that rach was here. this was the grand finale…of course this was at 4am after 9%

2x filet o fish (with double sauce), 20 pc chicken nuggets and 2x corn soups

rach bought us the best soy sauce dispenser on the planet

yea! 醬油!

and of course, sticker pictures.

they are disgusted at how pretty i am (i admit it, it’s a little creepy)

we also saw monga (艋舺) which was amazing. there was absolutely nothing about this movie that i didn’t love. for those of you in the states, you need to see this movie when it’s released on DVD. oh, and zombieland is pretty neat too ^^

a video game based on dante’s inferno (the 9 levels of hell).

ooo death edition so pretty

i’ve already played through limbo, lust, gluttony, greed and wrath. i’m now starting my descent into heresy. i must say, the designers of this game really went nuts on making hell look like the worst place ever. maybe there has or maybe there hasn’t, but a game who’s levels are based on the 9 circles of hell is ingenious. people say it’s a crappy god of war clone, but i don’t care, i’ve never played god of war nor do i have much interest in playing it. even if the gameplay sucked, i’d have a ball just enjoying the scenery of this game (and luckily, the gameplay is ridiculously fun). it’s also fun watching people squirm when they watch me play the game. there is only one question though, PUNISH OR ABSOLVE? i choose punish, because it’s easier and the skills are cooler ^^

today we had not 1, but 2 chinese teachers.

she wouldn’t really say much during class but the teacher generally asked all of us “我們每天可以吃垃圾食物嗎?” and her response “不要!” in which we all replied “awwwww 好乖!!!”

her chinese was better than all of ours. that is all.

so next week is chinese new years, it’s basically the only holiday we have here. we get 1 week off from school and work but for some reason, they made us all work and go to school last saturday to make up for all the time missed. it doesn’t make much sense, but oh well. here’s some stuff we’ve been doing recently:
